Class cancellation - 休講のお知らせ

ロンドン市内での暴動、まだまだ予断を許さない状況です。
交通機関や路上での混乱が予測されるため、今週のクラスはお休みを頂く事とさせていただきます。何卒ご理解いただきますようにお願いいたします。
London Riots has turned into UK Riots...very upsetting. Also, it is very uncertain where it goes to. Most definitely, we will see more traffic disturbance and street unrest, hence, we have decided to cancel this week class. We will be back in the class from next week, 18th!

今秋のお題- Agenda for this week

ちょっとだけ夏が戻って来た感じで、嬉しいですよね。
このまま新しい季節に移行してしまうのか、もうちょっと青空が広がると良いなーと思っていましたが、その願いもかなえられている今週から２週間、基礎コースではフロントフェーシング＝アレンジメントの練習を、アドバンスではボウシェイプ＝アレンジの制作を行って行きます。
It seems like The Summer has briefly come back to London - what a joy! To be honest, I was almost convinced that Autumn was on its way, but now, for this week, London is under beautiful blue sky.
For the next 2 weeks, we are practicing Front Facing Arrangements with Basic Class, and Bow-shape Arrangements with Advance Class.

こちらは百合さんによるフロントフェーシング＝アレンジです。植物の持つ”顔”を見つけ出して、それが生きるようにアレンジする練習です。これもアレンジの基礎ですが、応用の利くデザインですので是非身に付けましょうね。This is Yuri's design. It is a good design to practice finding FACES of flowers and foliages. Again, this is one of the basic designs, but it is also quite versatile - can be used as a gift. So, let's practice!


アドバンスクラスでは、弓型のボウシェイプ＝アレンジの練習となります。こちらの作品は邦子さんによるものです。今回もとてもフォーマルな形です。植物の持つラインを活かしてエレガントに創って行きましょう。
With Advanced Class, we will be practicing Bow-shape Arrangements as well, and this is designed by Kuniko. This is also a very formal design as the previous weeks. Let's pay attention to the beauty of lines in material, and bring some elegance to your own house!

落ち着かない日々の続くロンドンです。一日も早く、落ち着きを取り戻しますように。

新しいタームは７月２８日から！- The next term starts from 28th July!

なんでなんだか、この時期に花粉症。。。今、鼻の下が真っ赤っかです。

夏らしさが、ちょっとだけ

戻って来たようですね。さて、今年の夏

のクラスは、７月の２８日よりスタートです。
このタームでのアドバンスクラスの内容は、
１)エレガントなラインを用いて作り出す ホガース（Sシェイプ）デザインから始まります。こちらは由未さんによる作品です。

Here again, the Summer seems to be back with us again! This Summer Term starts from 28th July, and consists of 5 designs.

On Advance Class, the menu is

1) Hogarth shape (S-shape design) which has an elegant line.This is Yumi's design.

２)植物の持つラインを活かした弓形ボウシェイプ。こちらは葉子さんによる作品です。

2) Bow-shape design - with controlled material line. This is Yoko's arrangement.

３)ウェディングブーケとしても応用が可能なシャワースタイルの花束。こちらは邦子さんによる花束です。

3) Shower Hand-Tied - this design can be used as a wedding bouquet. This is Kuniko's design.

４)花材が少なくても豪華に見える、フレームを使った花束。こちらは恵子さんによる作品です。

4) Frame Hand-Tied which does not use that many number of flowers, yet still very pretty. This is Keiko's design.

５)ディナーテーブルがいっそう華やぐ事間違いなしの、クラシックなテーブルセンターピースへと進んでいきます。

5) Long and Low Table Design, which will bring sparkle on to your dinner table.

今回はクラシックで、フォルムがはっきりとしたデザインが多いタームになります。フォーマルなラインの使い方がぐっと伸びるタームです。

It is a term which is packed with classic designs. If you have a love for those classical shapes, this term is for you.

初めてクラスに参加をされる方には、丸いラウンドアレンジ、三角のフロントフェーシング、花束、花瓶を使ってのアレンジ、そして三日月型のクレッセントを一緒に作っていきましょう。
On Basic Class, the menu is Round, Front Facing, Hand-Tied, Vase arrangement and Crescent design. Let's create some beautiful designs with your own flowers.

ハムステッドクラスでは葉っぱものをご購入（３ポンド）いただけるようにご準備させていただいています。今のところブルームスブリー教室では困難で，当面ハムステッド教室のみでの実施とさせていただきます。ご了承ください。

もちろんこちらはオプションですので，ご自分で葉ものがご準備いただける方には、今まで通りのクラス代のみのままです。

葉っぱが見つからなくて，花から遠ざかり気味に、、、という場合にも，是非ご利用ください。是非、クラスでお会いしましょう！

Now, you can buy some foliage at Hampstead class for £3. This is entirely an optional. I would like to provide foliage with Bloomsbury class, too, however, at the moment, it is not possible due to its storage situation.

Agenda for this week - 今週のお題

久しぶりの、雨。たっぷりと降りましたね。おかげで、街角の木々の緑の輝き、ぐっと増したようです。
Rain, after seemingly a long dry period. Now, it was properly rained! Can you see the difference in colour of street trees - what a brilliant green it is now!

さて今週から２週間かけて、次のデザインに取り組んで行きましょう。
基礎コースでは、花束の練習です。花屋さんが、素早く花束を束ねて行く姿をご覧になった方も多いと思います。自分で選んだ花で同じように束ねる事が出来るようになれれば、花の世界がぐっと身近に、そして広がって行くのではないでしょうか？上記の作品は、愛さんによるデザインです。
Now, it is time to get even closer to flowers with one's hands! Yes, next 2 weeks, we are practicing Hand-Tied arrangements.
With Basic class, we will practice on of the basic skill - spiral methods for hand-tied. SOme of you might have seen a florist making a beautiful arrangement in his/her hands - ever so quickly! If you are able to do the same, then, it would be fun and useful: you can play with flowers more freely! The design above is created by Ai.

アドバンスクラスでも花束の課題になりますが、花材の持つ素材感をよりいっそう見せるフラットな形のデザインに取り組んで行きましょう。いつもは使わないような素材をどんどん取り入れて行ける、個性の出せる花束です。こちらの花束は、恵子さんによってっ束ねられた作品です。
With Advanced Class, we will be practicing Hand-Tied arrangements as well, but in a slightly different style. The finished design would be much flatter in profile, so each material in the design will show off its unique texture more. You can incorporate some more unconventional items in your design, too. The result? A very individual style. The design on the right is created by Keiko.


花束は難しそう。。。と敬遠せず、是非身につけてくださいね！
I know what you are thinking: "Hand-Tied can be tricky ..." Well, don't be afraid, and let's try it! You will find it rather fun!

基礎クラスでは、アレンジの王道、フロントフェーシング（三方見）が課題になります。教会の祭壇横に飾られる事の多いデザインですので、これまで目にされた方も多いのでは？（もちろん、クラスではそんなに大きな作品は作りませんが。。。）伸びやかに作って行きましょう！
With Basic Class, our agenda is Front Facing Arrangement. It is such a standard design, so, perhaps, you might have seen one or two similar arrangements in churches - next to alter? (Well, we are not really going to make that size - a bit smaller in the class!) Let's make it elegant!

アドバンスクラスでは、パラレルアレンジの垂直型を練習して行きましょう！
“モダン”とされるデザインの一つです。植物の立ち上がる姿の美しさを見せて行きますので、空間の取り方が大きなポイントになってきます。出来るだけ自然に生えているように活ける、というのも忘れずに行きましょう。
With Advance Class, we are making Parallel Vertical design. It is one of those so-called 'MODERN' designs. The key feature in this design is to show beauty of growing force in plants. In order to arrange materials, let's pay attention to negative space in designs.
