For this week - 今週のお題

今日から３月です！新しい季節の到来を予感させるように、土の中で冬を越えた球根達が葉をのばし始めましたね。市場にも春の花が沢山並んでいますが、道ばたで見かける花には，何か特別な力強さを感じますから、季節の変化を実感させてくれますもんね。

March is finally here! Y0u can now see the arrival of new season; like time-capsules, some spring bulbs which have endured through savage winter are now ready to come out to the atmosphere. There are, of course, many spring flowers around in the market, but those wild flowers growing near road side seem to have real energy. They are telling me "it is a new season!".

今週から２週間、基礎クラスでは花束を一緒に作って行きましょう。

花屋さんでもよく見かける事になるこのデザイン。贈り物にする時にも便利ですよね。こちらは純子さんの作品です。

For 2 weeks, we are making Hand-Tied arrangement with Basic Class. You might have seen this in a florist in London. As you can see, it is a perfect gift. This hand-tied was created by Junko.

アドバンスクラスでは、三方見の花束（フロントフェーシングの花束）を一緒に作って行きましょう。

このデザイン、プレゼンテーション時には大活躍となります。大きく伸びやかに作って行きましょうね。こちらの作品は恵さんによるものです。

With Advance Class, we are making Front Facing Hand-Tied for next 2 weeks. It is very useful when it comes to presentation; concert, party..etc. Let's try to make it with negative space and height. This summery bouquet is Megumi's design.

Hampstead Flower Festival - フラワーフェスティバルからvol.7

こちらは佳奈子さんのしつらえによるテーブルコーディネートです。“Tea in the Country"と名付けられていました。

This is a fabulous Table setting designed by Kanako. "Tea in the Country" was its title.

こちらは江美さんによる"Autumn"と名付けられた作品。

This is Emi's design titled "Autumn".

こちらは、敦子さんによるラウンドの作品で"Modern"と名付けられていました。

This is Atsuko's Round arrangement: its title was "Modern".

こちらは敦子さんのしつらえによるテーブルセッティング用のアレンジです。下が、そのセッティングです。

This is Atsuko's teble setting with eye-catching arrangement.

こちらはナターシャさんによる花飾りの一部。教会内にあるパイプオルガンを、数多くの花瓶で繋ぎ上げ、華やかに演出されていました。写真には納まらなかったため、一部のみのご紹介とさせていただきます。

This is Natasche's decoration around a Pipe Organ. With many various small vases, Natasche has created a wonderful display. It was too big to capture on a single picture: hence, this is just a part of the decoration!

From the market - 花市場から

バレンタインが過ぎ、少々閑散としていた花市場で咲いていました。春の訪れをいち早く届けてくれるバイモです。今週の花のクラスで使っていただけるよう、数は少ないですがご準備させていただきました。是非、このバイモ君を見に来てください。

The New Covent Garden Market was unusually quiet and almost bear...I think it was the aftermath of Valentine Day. Yet, there wee still beautiful flowers: one of those was this lovely Fritillaria. A messenger from early Spring. There are some to use at the class, so please pop in to the class to see these cuties!

Design for this week - 今週のお題

昨日はバラの剪定を行いました。おかげで、手が傷だらけになっています。昔テレビで“バラのしっかりめの剪定をするには、バレンタインの頃が一番！”というのを見た覚えがあって。今年もうまく咲いてくれるといいなー、と思いながら、これ、疑う事なく実践してます。今のところ、おかげさまで毎年咲いてくれています。

Hard pruning on Roses was my task yesterday: now my hands have many small cuts! A few years back, I watched a gardening programme on TV, and the presenter suggested that hard pruning on roses to be done around St. Valentine's day. Since then, I have been religiously doing this around this time. The result? Touch wood! So far, so good!

今週のクラスでは、基礎コースでは三方見のアレンジを一緒に作りましょう。イギリスらしい形のアレンジですよね。アレンジの王道です。こちらは由未さんによる作品です。This week, we are making Front Facing Arrangements with Basic Class. It is a standard British design to me. Well, perhaps this is an archetype of flower arrangement after all. Anyway, This design was created by Yumi.

アドバンスクラスでは、左右非対称の典型的なデザインとなるL型のアレンジメントに挑戦です。大人っぽさの出る、格好のいいアレンジを一緒に作って行きましょう。こちらは恵さんによる作品です。In Advanced Class, L-Shaped design is our agenda. It is a typical asymmetrical design: visual and actual balance can be the key factor here. Let's make a cool one together! This picture is Megumi's design.

Party with Japanese twist - パーティー

お家でのパーティーにと、お花の注文を頂きました。下見にお邪魔したとき，ロンドンの奥深さをまざまざと見せていただきました．こんなすごいお家があるんですよねー。依頼主の方も素敵な方で、普段から花や葉っぱをいけていらっしゃるご様子。素敵でした。はい。
What a beautiful house! It was an order for a house party. The clients wanted to have flowers at the party because they love it, not because of vanity nor to show off. There were some simple yet elegant arrangements through the house when I visited the house. Mmmmm, so nice! Anyway, thank you so much, and keep enjoying flowers, Rupert!

Hampstead Flower Festival - フラワーフェスティバルからvol.6

こちらは、敦子さんによる祭壇前のアレンジメントです。"Tree" という題名がつけられていました。

Atsuko created this natural arrangement for the alter.Its title was 'Tree".

こちらは葉子さんによる、ファンシェイプアレンジメントです。パイプオルガンの前にぴったりですね。

This is Yoko's Fan Shape design. It looked so settled in in front of the organ.

こちらは有希さんによる、ロング＝アンド＝ローのデザインです。“Autumn Dress"と名付けられていました。

This is Yuki's Long and Low design: its title was "Autumn Dress".

こちらは本祭壇前にしつらえられた大きな作品。恵子さんによるデザインです。

This design was created for the main alter in the church by Keiko.

こちらは葉子さんによる、大きなクレッセントアレンジメントです。タイトルは、そのものズバリの"Crescent".

This large Crescent arrangement was designed by Yoko. Its title was 'Crescent".

The Class resumes from 3rd Feb! - クラスは２月３日より再開させていただきます！

今年も２月３日より、花のクラスを毎週木曜日に開かせていただきます。
花やアレンジにご興味をお持ちの方、是非一度見学においでになってください。そして、実際にお花に触れてみてください。花に触れる機会が今まで無かった方も大歓迎です！(こちらにご紹介させていただいた作品は、すべてクラスにおいで頂いている方によるデザインです。）
The Arrangement classes resume from 3rd Feb 2011. If you are interested in flowers and designs, why don't you come over to have a look at the class? It does not matter whether you have any previous experience at all. (these designs here are all created by our colleagues.)

初めてクラスに参加をされる方には、丸いラウンドアレンジ、三角のフロントフェーシング、花束、花瓶を使ってのアレンジ、そして三日月型のクレッセントを自分らしく作っていきましょう。

For beginners, we are making Round arrangement, Front Facing Arrangements, Hand-Tied, Vase Arrangements and Crescent Arrangements, of course, with your own flowers.

今年最初のアドバンスクラスの内容は次の通りです。

For Advanced Classes, we are making the following designs.
１)植生的なスタイルのラウンド(Vegetative Round Arrangement)
自然の姿を理論的に再構築してみようという使えるアレンジです。To re-construct a natural habitat of plant materials.

こちらは、路子さんによる植生的なラウンドアレンジメントです。

This is Michiko's Vegetative Round Arrangement.

２)左右非対称なフロントフェーシング (Asymmetrical Arrangement)

L型とも呼ばれるクラシックなスタイルです。

It is also called L-Shape design.

こちらは、恵さんによるL方のアレンジメントです。

This is Megumi's L-shape design.

３)フロントフェーシングの花束 (Front Facing Hand-Tied)

プレゼンテーションの場で大活躍する花束の練習です。
A very useful design for stages and presentations.

４)フロントフェーシングの花瓶アレンジ (Front Facing Vase Arrangements)
レストランやオフィス=レセプションへのお届けにぴったりのデザインです。

５)クラシックなコサージュ(Corsage - Classic style)
イギリスらしい、クラシックなスタイルの花を使った飾りです。
With traditional methods.

今回のタームは、クラシックなスタイルに溢れるものとなります。今まで身につけてきたデザインとアレンジの力を、さらにのばしていただける機会です。イギリスらしいデザインの取り込み方がぐっと伸びるタームです。
During this term, we are making mainly 'classic' designs, so if you are interested in some traditional designs, this is your term!
朝のクラス

場所：ハムステッド＝クライストチャーチ教会（地下鉄ノーザン線はムステッド駅より徒歩５分程度）
時間：木曜日１０：３０より（アドバンスクラスは１１：００スタートです）
Morning Class

Every Thurs from 10:30 at Hampstead Christ Church (About 5mins walk from Hampstead Tube station)

夕方のクラス

場所：セント＝ジョージ　ブルームスブリー教会（大英博物館より徒歩１分）
時間：木曜日１８：３０より

Every Thurs. from 18:30 at St. George's in Bloomsbury (a short walk from British Museum)

各教室持ち物：花材（クラスにて、事前にデザインの見本をお作りしています），はさみまたはナイフ
教室代：１レッスン１２ポンド（学生の方は１０ポンド）
Please bring your own materials and a pair of scissors/knife - sample designs will be shown at a previous week session - clas fee is £12 per session (£10 if you are a student)

一昨年アロマ教室を開催いただいたノリコ先生によるフラワーレメディー講座を、春先に開催いただけるかも。。。という耳寄りな情報や、各国のメディアでご活躍中の写真家SHUさんによる、一日写真教室も再開の予定です。また、日本で活躍中の花の達人による特別講座も！
There are some special workshops - flower remedies, photography and even some flower workshops conducted by Japanese florists through the term. Watch the space!
