Line and Limited arrangment ライン＆リミティッド＝アレンジメント

リビングシーズンの花の教室です。

こちらは路子さんの作品です．作品のテーマは、植物の持つ ラインをシンプルな組み合わせで 美しく表現すること。路子さんの作品を見ていただければ、それがとてもよくわかりますね。洗練された作品です。

This is Michiko’s design. The concept of this arrangement is to show beauty of lines and spaces with limited materials. Michiko has created this very sophisticated arrangement, and you see its concept so clearly.

こちらも路子さんのお作りになった作品です．前の作品とは打って変わって静謐な美しさに満ちたアレンジメントです．花材それぞれの特徴を見極め、それを丁寧に活かしてアレンジされています。まるで庭を切り取ってきたかのような風情がありますね。

This design is also created by Michiko. It is quite a different design from the previous one: beauty of stillness and tension. Michiko has analysed character of each material and used it accordingly to maximise its beauty in this design. It is very simple, yet you feel as if you are sitting at a corner of a quiet garden on your own.

 こちらは敏美さんによる作品です。個性の異なる花を集める事で、花材が少ないアレンジでも見応えがある作品になっています。アンスリウムなどのエキゾティックな花を用いながら，とてもしっとりした風情を漂わせていますね。
This design is created by Toshimi. By gathering different style of flowers in one design, Toshimi has brought strong visual impact to this work. There is, undeniably, a feel of morning dew here - despite using some exotic flowers such as Anthurium...

What? - えーっと、、、、ええっ！？

ヘイワードギャラリーは、好きな場所の一つでして。。。

先日まで開かれていた展示会 Light show も、いやーよかったです。何が良かったかって言い出すと、もうとりとめもなくなってしまうので。。。




展示会場内中で写真は撮れなかったので、変わりにこちら。まあ、トイレで写真を撮っているっていうのも、ちょっと問題があるんじゃあないのか、、、と思いながらも。

こういったところまで気が配ってある美術館、やっぱり良いっすねー。

I managed to get in to this exhibition called Light Show - wow! I LOVED it - would not dare to start explaining why, as I would not shut up.

 Anyway, taking any photograph was prohibited at the exhibition, so, instead, this is a snap shot from its lavatory. I know it can be problematic should you take a photo there... Anyway, what do you think??

Garden Open for Charity - 週末は、庭を歩いて、、、

。。。というわけで、ハイゲートにあるこの庭は、それはそれは夢のような場所でした。入口からすぐ、ロンドンの高層ビルを眼下に臨む事が出来、そこから足を進めるたび、目の前に広がってくるのは深い森の色。隠れ家のようにしつらえられたベンチでお茶とケーキを楽しむ人。水の経る道でカエルを探す子供達。そしてその植生の美しさに、ずーっとうんうん唸っていました。

６月にもう一回だけ、公開されるとのことです。

... which led me to this simply dreamy garden in Highgate in London. Once you walked in to the site, a panoramic view over London skyscrapers welcomed you. Then, the path took me to a bosom of a deep forest with different shades of green. Some hidden benches were occupied by people enjoying a nice cuppa and a slice of cake, children were seeking for frogs in a pond. Me? I was completely speechless, as if being shot by unexpected delight on every single step, and kept finding myself mumbling Mmmmm..... Ahhhhhhh........Woah......

The garden will be open only one more time in June this year.

The Classes starts on 25th APRIL - 春のクラス４月２５日より再開です

イースターが来たと思ったら、また季節外れの雪が舞ったり、なかなか太陽が顔を見せてくれなかったりするこの４月。新しい季節の始まりを感じさせてくれるはずのこの週末ですが、なかなか街に中では、春の花々には出会えませんね。球根達もせっかく顔を見せかけていたところで、先日の雪。痛々しかったです。Easter has come and gone, then we had some snow - still no sign of the SUN beaming at us, yet... It is APRIL now. We are suppose to see some signs of new season by now, but it still is hard to find any of it. That snow the other day sitting on to some newly bloomed spring bulbs - painful.

曇り空の下の桜も、まるで凍ったように見えますね。

この週末は、少々暖かくなるのでしょうか。。。？

Those early cherry blossoms in London - with silver background of icy clouds, they look frozen.

その一方、ロンドンの花市場、ニューコベントガーデンでは春が満開中。こうして春を運んでくれる花達。それがたった一輪であるとしても、花のある生活は心・気持ちを贅沢にしてくれると思います。

There is a different story under the roof of New Covent Garden Market, our London Flower Market. It is filled with gorgeous Spring flowers with delicious scents, which will bring New Season to your home. Maybe even just one bloom will make your room home. 

こうした花達をアレンジとして飾り、春をお部屋に届けてあげませんか？一緒にアレンジを創って行く事で。あなたらしい花飾りの姿がきっと見えてくると思います。

本年・春のタームですが、４月２５日（木曜日）より、今までと同じ時間と場所での開始を予定しています。

今回のターム、アドバンスクラスで創っていく課題は、次の５つです。課題作品の写真を貼付させていただきました。是非ご参考になさって下さい。どの作品も、とっても素敵ですよ！

This forthcoming Spring term is starting on 25th April with following designs for Advance classes. The location, the time are the same as it has been.

１）Pot-et-Fleur

元々はヴィクトリア時代に行われていたと言われる鉢物のアレンジですが、クラスでは観葉植物と生花の組み合わせで進めていきます。お家に飾っていただけるのはもちろん、プレゼントやオフィスなどへのお届けにも使える用途の広いデザインです。

Design origin seems to be from Victorian Era... It used to be an arrangement of mixed pot plants, however, in the class, we use some fresh cut flowers within your design. It would be a great design option for gifts and offices.

This is Yuri's design/こちらは百合さんのデザインです

２）ライン＆リミティッド＝アレンジ/Line and Limited Arrangeent Design

名前が示すように、ここで使われる花材はあまり多くありません。それぞれの花材の持つ個性（形、ライン、表情の違いなど）を、角度の違いによって最大限に表現しようとするのがこのデザイン。ネガティブスペースを作りながら、左右非対称でバランスを作る。生け花のイメージに近いデザインです。

As its name suggests, we would not use that many number of material for these designs. Instead, each material will be showing off its individual beauty – shape, line, form and its face – by arranged in well controlled angle and manipulation; yes, arranged by YOU. Use of negative space and asymmetrical balance – this design does share some design principles with Japanese IKEBANA, I think.

３）ライン＆リミティッド＝ハンドタイド/ Line and Limited　Hand-Tied

前述したアレンジを、花束にしていくのがこの課題。ちょっと大きく、大胆に作ると、とても格好の良いシュッとしたデザインになります。ちょっとシャープな作品作りを目指していきましょう。

This design is another way of presenting a design, but with the very same design principles as the previous design. Let each flower and leaf spread their stems out and stand tall. Yes, let them speak.

This is Kanako's Hand-Tied/佳奈子さんによる花束デザインです

４）フレームを使った花瓶のアレンジと花束/Frame Vase Arrangement & Hand-Tied

フレームを取り入れる事で、花瓶のアレンジが一層独創的なデザインへと変化します。2週目にもおいで頂ける方には、このフレームを使って花束の作り方を練習していきたいと思います。もちろん、フレームも創っていきましょうね。空間の取り方も大切な要素になります。

A design can be so dramatic with a few flowers in with a good use of FRAME. The 1st week, we make a vase arrangement with a frame, and 2nd week, if you could join us, this frame will be transformed in to a Hand-Tied arrangement. Frame? Yes, it will be made by YOU.

５）ブーケホルダーを使ったラウンドブーケ/Round BQ in a Holder

ウェディングへと応用していただける、ブーケホルダー使用のブーケの練習です。まずは基本のラウンドから始めて行きましょう。２週続けておいで頂ける方には、ここからシャワーへと変化させていただく事も出来ます。

Let's start with a Round shape BQ on a BQ holder. If you could join the class on the 2nd week, you could create a Shower style, too.

２０１３年・春のタームでは、多様なスタイルを練習をしていただけると思います。春らしく土に触れる機会のあるPot-et-Fleurからウェディング、そしてちょっとモダンで渋めのフレーム使いのアレンジまで。デザインの幅、そしてアレンジの”引き出し”を増やしていただけるのに絶好の機会だと思います。是非クラスにご参加下さい！

The forth coming SPRING term is packed with various designs - you can feel soil when you make Pot-et-Fleur, and enjoy crafting skill when you make a frame, then wedding work... It will be a great opportunity to exercise your design skill and broaden your design range.

いっぽう、これまでクラスに足を向けていただくチャンスを逃していらした方には、基礎の基礎から一緒に始めて行きましょう。丸い形のラウンドアレンジ、三角形 の三方見のアレンジ、基本の花束の作り方、花瓶を使ったアレンジの作り方、そして基礎コースのまとめとなる三日月型のアレンジと進んでいきます。

On Basic Class, the agenda is Round, Front Facing, Hand-Tied, Vase arrangement and Crescent design. Let's create some beautiful designs with your own flowers.

If you are interested in Flowers/creating your own Flower Arrangements, please come along to the class to see what is going on. It really does not matter if you have any experience or not at all!

花やアレンジにご興味をお持ちの方で、ちょっとクラスをのぞいてみたいという時には、ご遠慮なくご連絡下さい。一度見学においでいただき、そして、実際にお花に触れてみてください。花に触れる機会が今まで無かった方 も，もちろん大歓迎です。(こちらにご紹介させていただいた作品は、すべてクラスにおいで頂いている方によるデザインです。）

S-shape (Hogarth line) Arrangement - S型（ホガースシェイプ）アレンジを作って

リビングシーズンの花の教室からです。それにしても、真冬だった数週間前に比べて、もっと寒くなっているような気がするのは自分だけなのでしょうか。。。？

Up-date from the weekly classes...by the way, are we experiencing colder temperature now than the actual deep winter a few weeks back?? 

こちらは由未さんの作品です。茎のしっかりしているバラは、このデザインには使いにくい素材なのですが、由未さん、巧く配置されています。ちょっと個性的な組み合わせも目を惹きますね。

This is Yumi's arrangement. Roses can be too rigid for this type of design, however, Yumi has created this lovely flow in this design with some white roses. Its interesting material combination is another winning ponit, too.

 こちらは麗さんの作品です。光に向かって咲くアレンジが、窓辺をさらに明るくしていますね。使われている花材自体はそれほど多くないのですが、それぞれの茎の持っている動きを丁寧に見つめられているのが分かります。

Rei has made this arrangement. This suntrap corner next to a big window looks even brighter with this beautifully bright design. Although there weren't that many flowers used here, each stem was showing off its beauty of line very well.

こちらは、敏美さんによる作品です。全体をシンプルにまとめられることで、枝の持つ伸びやかなラインを活かされていますね。赤いアネモネが、とても大人っぽく見える、春浅いアレンジです。

This arrange was made by Toshimi. By keeping the overall design rather simple, one can appreciate the beauty of material - especially this sweeping twigs with movement. A perfect design for early Spring - even those red Anemones looked cool and quiet.

クラスの日程変更について - 21st March : Cancel

いつも＜花の教室＞というふうに呼んでいますが、それはぴったり来る表現の仕方を私が知らないだけ。。。クラスとか教室という言葉には、権威的なものが存在する場所、そんな意味合いがまとわりつくので、ちょっと違うよなーと思いながら、ぴったりくる言葉が見つかるまでは、こう呼ばせていただいています。

まあ、独り言だと思って、あんまり気にしないで下さい。

そんな＜クラス＞にいつもおいで頂いて、よし、こちらもしっかり頑張っていこう！と毎週思うのですが、間借りをしている身分の宿命。場所を使えない時がやっぱり出てくるんです。

ここからは独り言ではありませんので、、、。

この３月２１日ですが、朝のハムステッドと夕方のブルームスブリーともにお休みをさせていただく事になりました。翌週の２８日より通常通り再開させていただきます。急な変更になりご迷惑をおかけいたしますが、ご了承下さいませ。

We call this weekly thing with flowers , but that is because I still don't know a perfect word for this - a word always come with an aura of authority to me... I don't like it, but I have to use it until I find a right word for it. 

Anyway, this is me mumbling, so do ignore me.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, there will be NO session on 21st March at both Hampstead and Bloomsbury location. My sincere apology for any inconvenience this may cause.

ニューコベントガーデンでは、桜が満開になっていました。とはいえ、花市場の枝ものコーナーの大きなバケツの中で咲いているから、根はないんです。

桜は絶対に伐ってはいけない、と、子供のころから言われ続けてきただけに、ちょっと辛い朝の一場面でした。

Cherry blossoms were fully blooming at New Covent Garden Market, however, only in a huge bucket - yes, without soil nor roots system anymore... I understand that it is in the market, but it was rather painful to see them. Is it because I was always told not to cut cherry blossoms from my childhood? Or, do you share this sentiment?

そして遠足へ。。。And here we were in a forest of ROSES...

あのまっすぐな茎は、どのように育ってくれるのか。。。。？

花首を糸で吊り上げていると言う噂は、本当なのか。。。。？

どうして茎の長さが、そして花の大きさが揃えられるのか。。。。？

新鮮な花を、新鮮なまま届けるにはどうしたらいいのか。。。。？

松阪牛を育てるように、大切な花にはビールを飲ませてマッサージをする。。。。？

How could you get those straight stems....?

Is it true that each flower head is tied and pulled upwards.....?

Why do those roses have the same stem length and same head size.....?

 What is the secret to keep them fresh for longer period of time.....?

Is that true that flowers being offered beer and massaged, just like  famous Matsuzaka beef.....?

冬の風からしっかり守られたハウスの中は、まるで童話に出てくるイバラの森。

もちろんカエルだっています。

The house is fending the bitter winter off, and it is as if we were wandering into a rambling brier in a fairy tale. Of course, we have a frog.

そして、なぜかバナナやパパイヤまで。
We saw some bananas and Papayas, too...why?

数えきれぬ程の、そしてはかりきれぬ程の手間と愛情がかけられているこのハウス。お忙しい中、たくさんの疑問を丁寧に解きほぐしてくださった丸山バラ園さま。ご招待いただき、本当にありがとうございました。
It is clear those roses are well looked after with TLC. Thank you so so much for giving your time, solving all the questions we had, Maruyama Rose Firm!

柔らかな笑顔に包まれた、気持ちが温かくなる遠足でした。It was cold outside, but we felt so much warmer on our way back from this firm...
