やっと、やっと夏らしい日々が続くようになったロンドン！
Finally, The SUMMER has come to LONDON!

今年は半袖の出番が来ないんじゃあないのか。。。とか考えていましたが、待った甲斐があります。
I had started wondering whether if we could ever wear short-sleeve shirts this year or not... but, now, it really was worth waiting for.


もちろん、花市場も夏の花で埋もれています。夏と言えば、やっぱりこの花。
Naturally, the flower market is filled with abundance of summer flowers now. And, one familiar face among them is THIS.

ひまわりも一年中市場に出回る花の一つですが、やっぱりこの季節に見ることができるのも嬉しいです。花びらだけでなく、葉っぱだってパッキリみっちり。元気に開いています。

もちろん、デルフィニウムやコーンフラワー、青麦やラベンダーといった、夏らしさをかき立ててくれる花も市場に溢れています。

There are Delphiniums, Cornflowers, Wheats, Lavenders.... the scent of SUMMER is in the air at the market - but SUNFLOWER (Helianthus) really makes me think of the season. Nowadays, you find Sunflowers regardless to the season, but look at this beauty! Flower, petals, leaves and stems - all look so wholesome and happy.


さて、夏のタームは７月１８日（木曜日）より、今までと同じ時間と場所での開催を予定しています。このタームはやや短縮の８回です。（８月２２日と９月５日はお休みさせていただきます。ご了承下さいませ。）

The weekly classes at Living Seasons is starting its Summer term from 18th July, at the same place and same time. The only difference on this term is that we only have 8 sessions, instead of usual 10. (Also, there will be no class on 22nd August and 5th September) 

今回のターム、アドバンスクラスで作って行く課題は次の５つです。
アドバンスクラスでは、今までの内容に加え、新たにウェディング用ポージーブーケの作り方を練習していきたいと思います。課題作品の写真を一緒にご紹介させていただいています。是非ご参考になさってください。どの作品も、とっても素敵な仕上がりです！
On Advance Classes, we are making 5 different designs as follows: with new addition of Wedding Posy design. 

１）L型アレンジ（左右非対称＝エシンメトリカル）ー　エレガントかつダイナミックなスタイルです。こちらは恵さんの作品です。
1) L-Shape (Asymmetrical) Design - Elegant, yet very dynamic style. This design was created by Megumi. 

２）ファン（扇）型アレンジ　−　少ない本数でも、最大限のインパクトが得られるデザインです。こちらの作品は、彩子さんによるものです。
2) Fan-Shape Arrangement - the design will create maximum visual impact with relatively small number of flower material. One of the classic designs. This is Saiko's arrangement.
 

３）クロス＝オーバーラッピング　ー　花材がわざと交差してアレンジされる、緊張感のあるデザインです。こちらは恵子さんの作品です。

3) Cross-Overlapping Design - Each stem will be crossing over other stems within this design - this creates more visual tension here. Keiko has created this design.

４／１）モダン＝コサージュ（１週のみ）　ー　もう少し手軽にコサージュを楽しみたい方にお勧めです！翌週のポージーブーケとセットの内容です。こちらは恵子さんのお創りになったコサージュです。
4/1) Modern Corsage (1 week only) - Do yo think making a corsage would be too time-consuming? This might be an alternative for you. This class will be loosely set together with the following agenda. The design below is created by Keiko.
 

４／２）ポージー＝ブーケ（１週のみ）ー　今タームから登場の新しい課題です。ウェディングやギフトで活躍するデザインです。今タームでは、前課題のモダン＝コサージュとセットとなります。
4/2) - Posy Bouquet - This is a new agenda from this term. The design can be used on various occasions; of course, including weddings and gifts! 

 

このタームでは、インパクトの強いデザインが多くなります。植物の持つ可能性を見る目と、それを最大限に伸ばしてあげる技術を身につけていきましょう！

一方、これまでクラスにおいで頂くチャンスを逃していらしたあなた！

初めてクラスに参加をされる方には、丸いラウンドアレンジ、三角のフロントフェーシング、花束、花瓶を使ってのアレンジ、そして三日月型のクレッセントを一緒に作っていきましょう。

花やアレンジ作りにご興味をお持ちの方で、クラスをのぞいてみたいとお考えの方。いつでもご遠慮なくご連絡下さい。一度見学においで頂き、そして実際にお花に触れてみてください。今までアレンジを作った事がない方も、もちろん大歓迎です。（こちらにご紹介させていただいた作品は、全てクラスにおいで頂いている方の作品です）

季節の花で、思い通りのアレンジが出来るように。。。クラスでお会い出来るのを楽しみにしています。

On Basic Class, the agenda is Round, Front Facing, Hand-Tied and Vase arrangement. Let's create some beautiful designs with your own flowers.

From the Classes - Parallel Arrangement を作って（クラスの作品から）

恵子さんによる作品をご紹介します。ガーベラやチューリップなど、天に向かって素直に伸び上がる花材での作成。足下へあしらわれたハランの使い方も、見所の一つですね。
This is Keiko's arrangement. The flowers used here had beautiful stem line, shooting out from the ground and trying to reach the sky... It is another point to take note what a  clever way of using Aspidistra at the base of the design.






こちらも恵子さんによるアレンジ。前作とは趣を変え、細かく弾けるように咲く花々を使っての作品です。それぞれの花材に与えられた空間ですが、単調にならないように気を配って作られているのが分かりますね。ベース部分の構成も含めて、とても見応えのある作品になっています。
 This is also from Keiko. Even though the design style was the same as the previous one, Keiko created a design with completely different feel to it. With rather small blooms, each material was given good negative space - and it was not monotonous at all. It really is a beautiful design.

こちらは由未さんの作品。立ち姿の美しいアイリス。その美しさを遺憾なく発揮出来るのも、このアレンジスタイルの魅力ではないでしょうか？使われた花の数はそれほど多くないのですが、空間構成に隙はありませんね。
Yumi has created this design. Iris has such a beautiful profile, with its curving stem... This design style can really enhance this side of beauty in flowers, I think. And, of course, Yumi has done it so rightly. Not that many flowers being used, but there was no sense of lacking anything here.

こちらは麻世さんの作品です。前３作とは異なる、横へ流れるパラレルデザインです。デザインの特性を生かす花材選びがなされていますね。オレンジ色のガーベラが効いています。

This design was created by Mayo, who chose these material to enhance the design concept: it is different from the previous 3 arrangements. This one is, as you can see, a HORIZONTAL style. Orange Gerberas in this design brought good visual impact to this design.

From the classes - Front Facing - フロントフェイシング＝アレンジメントを作って

こちらは百合さんの作品です。まるで、太陽のような強い輝きを感じますよね。葉ものを様々に組み合わせる事で、アレンジにいっそう動きが出ています。

This is Yuri's arrangement. Look at the variety of foliage in this design! They created beautiful movement in the design - it is like a Sun blasting out bright light. Such an eye-catching arrangement.

こちらも百合さんによる作品です。とても個性的な花の組み合わせではないでしょうか？テクスチャーの面白さに、見る人の目が注がれます。
This is also Yuri's design. It has very interesting combination of materials and unique STYLE with mixing them, which really attracts anyone's attention to this design. What do you think?









こちらは岸子さんによるデザインです。ジンジャーの花の持っている表情が活かされたアレンジですね。植物の持つ力強さ、そして伸び上がる命を、感じさせてくれませんか？
Kishiko has created this design. Ginger has such an intriguing facial expression, and Kishiko has captured them really well here. Can you feel the strength each material holds within? And, can you see the power of growing up from this design?






こちらは美穂さんによる作品です。夏の一日を癒してくれるような、優しさが伝わってくるアレンジメントですね。いつもとはちょっと違う、ちょっと優しげなひまわりの表情が素敵です。
This is Miho's arrangement. After a long hot Summer day, you would be so happy to see this design waiting for you at home... as if giving a fresh cool shower to your exhausted soul. Miho has shown another side of those Helianthus (Sunflowers) - gentle and light.

岸子さんによるアレンジです。色の対比が美しく、見る人の目を引きつけてくれます。夏の風を運んでくるような、いまの季節にぴったりの作品です。
Kishiko has created this airy design. It demands attention to be seen in a gentle manner with its beautiful colour contrast. Isn't it a perfect arrangement for the season - it almost makes you feel a nice breexe from afar field.  

こちらは由未さんによるアレンジメントです。アレンジの軸となる成長点。特にこの作品では、この点がしっかりつくり出されているのがよくわかりますね。広がりとともに安定感を感じさせてくれる作品です。

This is Yumi's arrangement. We all know about Growth Point when you make arrangements. You can almost pin-point it in this design. Each material has spread its line beautifully here, yet, the whole design looks so visually stable.

こちらも、由未さんによる作品です。柔らかな素材を丁寧にアレンジされていらっしゃいます。そよ風を感じるような作品ですね。
Yumi also created this design. The material being used here are generally very gentle and fine sorts. Can you feel a gentle breeze coming from it?

From the classes - 花瓶アレンジを作って Vase Arrangement

リビングシーズンの花の教室からです。

こちらは路子さんの作品です。背筋が伸びるような強さと融けてしまいそうな繊細さを兼ね備えた作品です。ところでこの作品、吸水性フォームではなく花瓶を用いて作られた作品なんですよ！それもワイヤーやテープといった花留めはいっさいありません！花材と花瓶だけです。とても素敵なアレンジですよね！

This is Michiko’s design. So crisp, yet so tender. It looks like a well-balanced round arrangement created on a block of floral foam. Well, in fact, it is a round arrangement in a VASE – without any additional mechanics! No wire, no tape, no nothing – just flowers and foliage! Isn’t it amazing?

 こちらは信子さんによる作品です。華やかな芍薬が囲まれているのは、個性的な姿を持つ夏の草花達。テクスチャーの組み合わせが活きています。もちろん花瓶の中のメカニクスも完璧です。

This is designed by Nobuko.　A fabulous Peony is surrounded by Summer flowers – each one of them has quite unique shape and texture. It is a lovely combination of material, as well as perfect mechanic inside the vase.

麻世さんによるデザインです。美しいプロファイ

ルが作り上げられていますね。アネモネの持つちょっとした表情が、とても活かされた作品になっているのではないでしょうか？

Mayo has created this design. Its beautiful profile really shows Mayo’s good design skill. Each flower was also placed with right angle, right length to enhance its own beauty.

由未さんによる花瓶のアレンジです。暖かな色合いでまとめられていますね。花材の位置もしっかりと決まった、エレガントな作品です。

This is Yumi’s design. It has lovely warm glow. Each material was placed in good position to enhance the shape of this elegant design.

アヤコさんによる作品です。個性的な花材と色の組み合わせで、見る人を "どきり" とさせる作品ではないでしょうか？このように重量感のある花で作るのは、見た目以上に難しいんです。。。カッコのいい仕上がりですね。

This arrangement was created by Ayako. Visually stunning – very dramatic combination of materials here. In fact, it is much harder to create a good shape like this when you use heavy flowers... It demands attention, and naturally, it should.  very cool design!

やっと出会えたね。。。At last ...

あるよ、あるよ、って聞いている割に、なかなかお目にかかる事のないもの、結構たくさんあるのが、この世の中

 There are some THINGS that we know they do exist, but hardly have a chance to come across... Now, one of these THINGS, at last, came along.

今回、そんな１つに遭遇。

ごく普通に見かけるようなメニューなのですが

（。。。と言っても、突っ込みどころ満載で、楽しめます）

This menu looks pretty ordinary, yet...

(... it is full of dishes which tickle my curiosity, I must say) 

 

よーく見ると。。。。あるんです！

Look...there it is! 

衣を付けて油で揚げたマーズバー。

Yes, "Battered Mars Bar" 

食べたかったのですが、一緒にいた方から真摯な忠告、そして健康への警鐘を受ける事になり、今回はメニューのみの拝借。

イギリス、奥深き、です。

Maybe it is not that interesting, but, for me, it was! 

Although I wanted to try it, my colleagues gave me some stiff health-related advices, which made me giving up the idea. I ended up just taking a photo of this menu.

I still have a lot to learn about this country...

６月と言えば、もう初夏、のはず。

でも、窓の外はいまだその気配を感じられず。。。そんな曇り空の下、太陽のように輝いてくれるマリーゴールドは、季節をしっかりと伝えてくれています。

We are now in the middle of June, which is supposed to be the beginning of SUMMER... however, the reality is far from it. Well, at least, these cheerfully bright Marigolds are reminding me of the season.

先日からご案内させていただいている、シュウ富岡さんによる写真教室。第二回の開催が決定いたしました。このような方から直接指導を受けることが出来るというのは、滅多にない機会だと思います。写真にご興味をお持ちの方だけでなく、新しい事を始めて見ようとお考えの方にも、ぴったりの講座になると思います。

The professional photographer, Shu Tomioka, is now running a photography classes in Hampstead - I took the previous lesson, and it was full of new discovery. Thanks to Shu's lesson, I can edit photos I took now - the 1st and 2nd pictures here are the same - the 2nd one was tweeked a little bit. Do you think it is better? I hope so...

ラウンド＝アレンジメントを作って Basic Round Arrangement

こちらは香織さんの作品です。全体の構成、花の配置など、基礎をしっかりと抑えられています。フォーカルエリアがしっかりとつくり出されている点も、見逃せませんね。

This was created by Kaori. With a good, balanced composition in this arrangement, you can see how important to keep some basic rules in design. It is also noted that a strong focal area was created, too.

こちらは由子さんの作品です。白とグリーンを基調としたさわやかな作品です。細かな花も、花の向きに気を遣いながら丁寧にアレンジされていらっしゃいます。
Yuko has made this arrangement. Its fresh look was enhanced with white and green colour scheme. Yuko has carefully arranged each flower, even those small flowers, to show their faces well.

敏美さんの作品はこちらです。ヤワラかく光を反射しているチューリップによって、アレンジの全体像が更に美しく見えますね。ラウンドアレンジとしての輪郭が、とても美しい作品です。
Toshimi has created this arrangement. A beautiful colour scheme - those Tulipa looked almost glowing with light. Its overall shape was beautifully created as a ROUND design, too.
